How do I enter a calendar event?

Click the Add Event tab. Enter the event title, description start and end times. Using the calendar on the right hand side select the date of the event. Alternatively, use the boxes below the calendar to set the date of the event. This may be quicker if the event is not in the current month. Click the email and sms notification boxes if you want an email and sms notification for the event. The notifications are sent from 1 to 30 days before the event is due. Select the number of days before the event from the "Send n days before event. Click the "Public" box if you want other people to view the event from your Public version of the calendar. Finally, click the "Submit Calendar Request" button. A confirmation that the event has been entered into the calendar will be displayed to the right of the window. If you wish to add the same event for another day, change the date of the event using the calendar and click the "Submit Calendar Request" button.

How do I delete an event?

From the Calendar tab click the "List" button at the bottom of the page. This will display the events as a list. Click the "delete" link on the far right of the list. The view of the events will be refreshed confirming the deletion.

How do I search for an event?

From the Calendar tab enter the text that you want to search for in the box at the bottom of the page. Click the search button. Any events that have the search text in the title or details of the event will be displayed in a list. If the list is empty no events with this text were found.

How do I set up the email address for receiving the events?

Select the "Account" tab. This will show you the current settings. To change the settings select the "Edit" tab. The first email box is for the email that technical matters regarding your account will be sent to. The second email box, labeled "Email (email reminder)" is the email address that email messages will be sent to. You can change this at any time. The change will take effect immediately.

How do I set up the phone number for event sms reminders?

Select the "Account" tab. This will show you the current settings. To change the settings select the "Edit" tab. From the "Event Details" section select your country from the "Country dial code" drop down box. Enter the mobile phone number in the  "Mobile (sms reminder)" box. Please note, you should not prefix the phone number with the country code. Select the "Update" button. To confirm the details click the "Status" tab. This will show the full number, including the country code. To test sms reminders from the "Account->Edit" tab Click the "test" button. This will immediately send a test sms message to mobile number.

How do I upgrade my account to full membership?

Click the "Account" tab. Click the "Upgrade" tab. You will be presented with 3 options to upgrade: Credit Card, Paypal, Post. Click your preferred method and follow the instructions. Please note that we never have sight of your payment information when you pay by credit card or paypal. Please see the payment providers sites if you are concerned about security. Once your payment transaction is complete you should receive an email confirming the upgrade. Your sms messages will be available immediately.

I live in the USA. Can I still use the service?

Yes. In common with most web based applications the service is available world wide. SMS messaging should work from most countries. To test this facility we provide a "test" link on the "Admin" tab. (see faq How do I set up the phone number for event sms reminders ? for details). The subscription charge is based on UK sterling. The exact amount that you are charged will depend on the exchange rate at the time of upgrading.

When upgrading will I loose my trial membership events?

No. The upgrade process will simply give you access to the full membership facilities.

How many users can use a calendar?

The service is primarily designed as a 1 user 1 calendar system. However, we have no objection to a small group of people sharing an account. For example, some of our users are music bands that share the dates of band practice and gigs between  members by distributing the account details. However, the recommended secure way to use the calendar in this manner would be for a nominated person to administer the account and others to view a read-only version of the calendar using the read-only link.

What is the read-only link?

This is a method of sharing your calendar with others in a secure manner. The calendar is secure in the sense that people viewing the read-only link cannot add or delete events. Also, only public events will be visible. The read-only link is accessed by the following link: http://www.calendaronline.co.uk/webcalendar/wfCalendarReadOnly.aspx?id=MyID where MyID is replaced with your login ID. If you wish the read-only link can be integrated into your own website.

Can email event reminders be sent to multiple email addresses?

Yes. This feature is only available to registered members. If you are a registered member and wish to do this please send us an email for details.

How do I import external calendar events?

Click the "Account" tab, then click the "Import" tab. You will be presented with a list of event files: UK Holidays, USA Holidays, Moon Phases.. . Click on the name of the file that you want to import then click the "Import" button. After a short delay you will see a message confirming the import. Click on the "Calendar" tab to view the imported events. [Restricted number of imports for trial version]
